Ways of Seeing is an installation created for Light To Night 2021, ‘____in-Progress’
The work invites visitors to peer in, or rest under the structure of a giant telescope to view one’s surroundings through new frames. In these unprecedented times of Covid-19, the telescope takes on an additional layer of meaning – the metaphorical act of viewing, observing, and savouring experiences from afar.
To coincide with the work a short dance film, Telescopic Dreams was created as a digital engagment to bring distanced audiences closer, nearer and inner.
The choreography of space, movement and animation draws attention to how far we have been apart in 2020 and at the same time, how near we have been. How close do we want to be? How close is too close?
